February is a gentleman caller
Dressed in fine wool, silk shirt,
and top hat,
Bringing roses and dark chocolates
to all lovers
Who embrace Cupid’s tale.
Tipping his hat
Kissing the proffered hand
Sipping champagne from crystal flute
Reading poems of undying love
Closing the door on January’s cold
Opening it to March’s warm embrace.
The photo is of the cabin in the mountains that we built out of an old burro shed.
