February

February is a gentleman caller
Dressed in fine wool, silk shirt,
and top hat.
Bringing roses and dark chocolate
to all romantics
Who embrace Cupid’s tale.
Tipping his hat
Kissing the proffered hand,
Sipping champagne,
Reading poem of lingering love.
Closing the door on January’s cold
Opening it to March’s warm embrace.
